Why you should eat bugs

Have you ever wondered what a June Beetle tastes like?

Well, it really depends on how you prepare it.

If there's one thing we can tell you, it'll definitely be the fact that June Beetles are crunchy.

Even if you're repulsed by the idea of eating a bug, you may be wondering what they taste like. The truth is, they're pretty plain. At least when cooked & dehydrated.

Regardless of what June Beetles taste like, there are many reasons you should eat bugs. Don't worry; it's not weird or gross. It's pretty natural, actually.

But why start eating them?

It's in your nature.

Over 10 thousand years ago, our ancestors were hunting & gathering. During that time, they also consumed insects for their nutritional value. Some scientists believe that humans learned it by watching animals consume bugs.

You don't remember watching Timon & Pumba slamming loads of grub? They made it look absolutely delicious. That's probably how we caught onto the idea.

Eating insects is quite a natural thing to do. If you look around in nature, everything is about sustainability. How can we continue to live and thrive?

Sustainability

If you pick up on the idea of eating bugs, then you'll notice that one of the biggest pushes for eating insects is sustainability.

By 2050 there are estimated to be over 9 billion people on the planet. That's a whole lot of mouths to feed.

There are estimated to be over 400-million insects per acre. If you compare those numbers with our current population, there would never be a possibility we could thrive on a planet at that capacity.

Insects are already sustainable, and they make it very known that they're not going away any time soon.

Currently, over 2 billion people already consume insects. Why? They're delicious and sustainable.

Nutrition

Did you know that the average American doesn't get the number of vitamins and minerals they need to function correctly? Balancing your nutrition takes conscious effort and self-awareness.

Understanding that there are foods out there that can provide more nutrition than the average meal can help you get even closer to having balance.

Once you start eating for nutrition rather than just eating for pleasure, you start realizing there's loads of food everywhere.

Insects are nutritious. They're loaded with vitamins and minerals essential to your everyday functioning.

June Beetles are packed full of protein, and grasshoppers are loaded with anti-oxidants? Eating bugs can literally help you live longer.
